Cascadia Surgical — Lead Time & Reliability
Cascadia Surgical is a fictional brand and every number on this page is simulated; durations over completed orders only. It is a purpose-built synthetic order book with planted distribution shapes to find.
What to look for
- A lane whose average describes a shipment that never happens (LUMEN out of Alpine DC)
- Two product lines with the same average lead time and days between their 95th percentiles
- A single stage at a single distribution center that stepped up mid-year and stayed there
- The most recent weeks, greyed — their slow orders haven’t landed yet, so their tail is a lie
- A 95th percentile that changes when you average it instead of recomputing it
median 7.1 d · p95 12.6 d · 6,233 orders
- Completed orders
- Median, 7.1 days
- 95th percentile, 12.6 days
Order-to-delivery duration across every completed order, with the median and the 95th percentile marked. The long right tail, and how far p95 sits from the peak, is the demo’s case against quoting an average lead time to a customer.

Logistics
Two instruments over the outbound movement, kept separate on purpose. Lead Time pools completed orders into an order-to-delivery distribution; Transportation holds open shipment legs, versioned promised arrival dates, milestones and freight charges at their own grain. They keep their own routes, their own scope controls and their own populations — a shared parent is a shared reading, not a shared number.
